Cracked Bottle Of Perfume3/29/2021
Last was thing to do was make the new dauber and attach it to the stopper.I have some old black glass call vitolite and I used it to make a new stopper top.
I used a 1 12 diamond core drill and a hole in the black glass. Inside the dill was a 1 38 core I used to make the new top for the stopper. I made a new stopper using the old broken stopper for a pattern. Crystal repair like this is rewarding but you do go home smelling like roses. I make the new daubers and polished of what was left of theold one. Many simple repairs like these and many very complex were I had to create a new stopper. The neck of this decanter was broken in an unsuccessful attempt to remove the stopper. Bottle Of Perfume Crack So IAfter I was able to remove the stopper, I had to run the crack so I could remove the piece and reattach it with glue. The heat must be applied in a very controlled way so that the crack can be redirected to prevent further damage. The owner wisely researched many different repair shops before finding me. Not all repair shops have the experience to restore antique pieces like this one. The key to fixing this antique bottle was to find a new foot, and perform a transplant. The broken foot, or what was left of it, was cut off and polished flat. Using a UV cured adhesive, the new foot and the bottle were bonded together. My parts department (see picture) is the result of working with antique pieces for thirty years. ![]() Antique glass repair is enjoyable for me, and I truly love restoring antique glass artwork. In addition to crystal repair, I can blow glass, slump or bend glass, stain, paint, bevel, curve, engrave, etch, and cut glass. This Baccarat Bottle from the 1920s contains valuable perfume. I remember coming home and knowing grama was in the house as I came up the drive by the smell of her perfume. So I designed two stoppers and my cleint pick the one she liked best. ![]()
